What we do with your details.
This page covers this website, the emails we send, and the sites we build. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Who is responsible
One Good Site is responsible for the information in this notice. We are a sole trader business based in the UK. Contact address: 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ.
Write to hello@onegoodsite.co.uk about anything on this page.
What we collect
If you use the form on this website:
- your email address
- your business name, or the address of your website
If you become a customer:
- your name and your role in the business
- your business name, address, phone number and email
- the facts, photos and text you give us for your site
- who holds your domain
- invoice and payment records: the name and email you give on the payment page, the amount, the currency and the date. You enter card details on Stripe's page. They never reach us.
If we emailed you first: your work email address, and the business name and website we found it on. We take these from details your business has published.
The form asks for only an email address and a business name or website address. It also records which form on the page you used. Optional measurement is described below.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- Reply to your form and build the free preview you asked forWhy: you asked us to.Legal basis: taking steps at your request before a contract.
- Build and look after your site, take payment, keep invoicesWhy: to do the job you paid for and meet tax rules.Legal basis: contract, and legal obligation.
- Email a business we think we can helpWhy: to tell it we exist, once, and to stop when asked.Legal basis: our legitimate interest in finding customers.
- Count website visits and preview requests, if you agreeWhy: to understand whether this website helps visitors.Legal basis: your consent for optional measurement.
For emails to businesses: we write to a business address, say who we are, and give you a plain way to say stop. When you say stop, we stop for good.
Who else sees it
These companies handle details for us when we use their services. Google and Meta also receive optional measurement data if you accept cookies, as described below.
- Netlify, which hosts this website and receives the form.
- Google, which runs our email.
- Google Analytics and Meta Pixel, which receive details of your visit and a lead event if you accept optional measurement.
- Instantly, which sends our first emails to businesses.
- Cloudflare, which hosts previews and the sites we build.
- Stripe, which takes card payments on its own payment page and sends refunds. Stripe is also responsible for its own use of the details you give it; its privacy policy explains how.
- Our accountant, for invoices and tax.
We do not sell the details you give us in the form. Google and Meta receive visit details and the lead event only if you accept optional measurement.
Some of these companies are outside the UK. Where they are, we rely on the safeguards that UK law allows for sending data abroad, such as the UK's approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
- A form enquiry that goes no further: we delete it within twelve months. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
- If you become a customer: for as long as we work together, and for six years afterwards, because tax records require it.
- A business we emailed that did not reply: we delete its details within twelve months of our last email.
- If you tell us to stop emailing you: we keep only your email address, on a list, so that we never write to you again. That is the one thing we keep after you ask us to delete the rest.
Cookies and tracking
We ask before loading optional Google Analytics and Meta Pixel measurement. Nothing from them loads until you accept. If you accept, they may set or read a cookie identifier and receive details of your visit: the pages you open, your device and browser information, and your IP address. After our form server confirms your preview request, they also receive a "lead" event. That event says a request was sent. We do not add your form answers to that event. We use these events to count visits and preview requests. These companies are responsible for their own use of what they receive; their privacy policies explain how.
If you reject, the site works the same. Use "Cookie settings" in the footer to change your choice at any time. We save your choice in this browser on your device only. If you accept and later reject, we stop sending data, but cookies already set stay in your browser until you delete them in your browser settings.
Your browser's time zone is read once, on your own device, to show the price in your local currency. That reading is not sent to us or to anyone else.
The payment page belongs to Stripe, not to this website. It sets the cookies Stripe needs to take and protect your payment. Our cookie settings do not cover it; Stripe's privacy policy does.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, or object to us holding it. Write to hello@onegoodsite.co.uk and we will act within one month.
If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
